What is CEREC?

CEREC is a type of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) dentistry that was created in 1980 and is used to create dental restorations. Using CAD/CAM, the dentist is able to construct, produce and insert ceramic or porcelain crowns in a single appointment rather than the several appointment process that was necessary in the past.

How Does CEREC Work?

After it is determined that you need a crown, the dentist removes all decay in your natural tooth. A handpiece is used to reshape the tooth.
